India has reached the Champions Trophy final for the third consecutive time.


Two-time champion India has reached the final of the Champions Trophy.

In today's semifinal, India defeated two-time champion Australia by 4 wickets to reach the Champions Trophy final for the third consecutive time.

Chasing a target of 265 runs at the Dubai International Stadium, India successfully reached the target with 11 balls to spare, losing 6 wickets.

India lost both openers early, with Shubman Gill getting out for 8 runs and captain Rohit Sharma scoring 28 runs. By the end of the first powerplay, India had managed 55 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Despite a shaky start, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer built a crucial 91-run partnership for the third wicket. Shreyas fell just 5 runs short of his half-century, getting bowled out by Adam Zampa for 45 runs.

Virat, however, managed to complete his half-century and held the innings together. He built a 44-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Axar Patel before Axar was dismissed for 27 runs.

Shortly after, Zampa struck again, dismissing a well-set Virat Kohli, who played a brilliant knock of 84 runs off 98 balls, including 5 boundaries. When he got out, India had reached 225 runs in 42.2 overs.

After that, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul guided India to victory. Hardik made a crucial contribution of 28 runs off 24 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 1 four. KL Rahul played an unbeaten knock of 42 runs, facing 34 balls and striking 2 fours and 2 sixes.

In the bowling department, Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis took 2 wickets each, while Ben Dwarshuis and Cooper Connolly picked up 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. They were bowled out for 264 runs in 49.3 overs.

Australian opener Cooper Connolly was dismissed for a duck by Mohammed Shami. The second wicket fell when Travis Head, after scoring 39 runs, was caught by Shubman Gill off Varun Chakravarthy's bowling.

Following that, captain Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne built a 56-run partnership for the third wicket before Labuschagne was dismissed for 29 runs.

Soon after, Josh Inglis was dismissed for 11 runs. Smith then formed another crucial 54-run partnership with Alex Carey. However, Smith was eventually bowled out by Mohammed Shami after scoring 73 runs.

After scoring a half-century, Alex Carey was run out after making 61 runs. He faced 57 balls and struck 8 fours and 1 six in his innings.

In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami was the standout performer, taking 3 wickets for 48 runs in his 10-over spell. Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with 2 wickets each.

The second semifinal will take place tomorrow between New Zealand and South Africa. India will face the winner of this match in the final.
